From Cebu to Earth: Jamie Herrell, second Cebuana to win Miss Earth

From her winning the Sinulog Festival Queen 2013 crown, and the victory in the Aliwan Fiesta 2013 as the Reyna ng Aliwan of that year representing Sinulog Festival, then 19-years old Jamie Herrell of Cebu City was crowned Miss Philippines Earth 2014. It was held at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, last May 11, 2014.

Jamie represented the Philippines at the Miss Earth 2014 beauty pageant, one of the most prestigious beauty pageants in the world. She also served as the Ambassador to environmental protection campaigns in the Philippines.

Jamie Herrell, second Cebuana to win Miss Earth

During the coronation night, Jamie was crowned Miss Earth 2014, the second Filipina to win the title. She is also the second Philippine candidate from Cebu City to be crowned as Miss Earth. She followed the footsteps of Karla Henry, Miss Earth 2008, also from Cebu City.

Jamie was crowned by Alyz Henrich, Miss Earth 2013, from Venezuela.

Before she became Miss Philippines Earth and Miss Earth last 2014, Jamie Herrell, studied at the University of San Jose-Recoletos. In 2013, she joined the Sinulog Festival Queen and won the crown. A few months later after winning in Cebu City, she was sent to represent the city at the Aliwan Fiesta in Manila for the Reyna ng Aliwan, which she also won.

Her crown at the Reyna ng Aliwan is Cebu City’s 5th consecutive win.

Out of 49 candidates, Jamie Herrell bested other candidates in the 2014 Miss Philippines Earth pageant. Here are the winners of other titles of the same pageant:

Another delegate from Cebu, Crystal Aberasturi from Liloan, and Pircelyn Pialago from Dalaguete, also joined the pageant.

Aside from the title crown, she [Herrell] was also awarded Best in Cultural Attire, Best in Swimsuit, and Miss Solaire 2014.

During the Miss Earth 2014 pageant, which was held in the Philippines at the University of the Philippines Theatre, Jamie Herrell bested 84 other candidates. Here is the list of the titleholders:

Miss Earth Water 2014 – Maira Rodríguez (Venezuela)

On the succeeding year, Jamie turned over her crown to Miss Earth 2015 Angelia Ong, the candidate from the Philippines. It is a historical back-to-back win of the Philippines. She [Ong] is Philippines’ 3rd Miss Earth titleholder.

The beauty pageant in 2015 was held in Vienna, Austria.
