Ajinomoto Philippines Corporation (APC) held its inspiring “Eat Well, Live Well: 2024 Youth Summit” at Cebu City’s Marco Polo Plaza Hotel, bringing together over 150 young Filipinos, educators, and advocates. This vibrant gathering centered on health, nutrition, and sustainable living, equipping Gen Z attendees with actionable insights and tools to build a healthier, eco-conscious future.
The Ajinomoto Promise: Empowering Cebu Youth for a Healthier, Sustainable Future
The Youth Health Summit is part of Ajinomoto’s ongoing vision to inspire young generations toward healthier and sustainable lifestyles. Following the success of last year’s event, APC Group President Koichi Ozaki set the stage with an inspiring keynote.
“The mission of APC is to contribute to food and wellness to better lives of the future and we take it upon us to inspire the younger generations to become champions of a healthy and sustainable future,” said Mr. Ozaki. “Ajinomoto is here to make your eating experience happy, healthy and satisfying.”
To emphasize the intersection of health and sustainability, panel discussions featured insights from experts, including Ms. Cheryl de la Victoria from the Department of Agriculture (DA) and Ms. Maria Victoria V. Abrera from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). These discussions delved into sustainable nutrition, waste reduction, and daily wellness practices, stressing that small actions lead to meaningful, collective change.
Youth-Driven Ideas for a Healthier, Eco-Friendly Lifestyle
Ajinomoto’s Youth Health Summit also emphasized hands-on learning, where participants engaged in group activities to solve real-world sustainability challenges. A highlight of the day was the Youth-Led Output Activity, encouraging young Filipinos to brainstorm and present practical solutions for a healthier lifestyle. Ideas ranged from innovative ways to reduce food waste to promoting plant-based diets, reflecting Ajinomoto’s “Eat Well, Live Well” philosophy.
Attendees also explored MSG’s scientific benefits and participated in a nearly zero-waste cooking demo that turned vegetables into delicious, nutrient-rich dishes. Students enjoyed a taste of sustainability firsthand, seeing how they can incorporate eco-friendly practices into their daily lives.
A Shared Pledge to Make Health and Sustainability a Priority
The day concluded with a ceremonial pledge, where each participant committed to applying the lessons they had learned in their communities. This pledge reinforced the summit’s impact, as young advocates vowed to lead healthier, more sustainable lifestyles and educate their peers on mindful choices.
The Ajinomoto Vision for a Greener Philippines
Aligned with its 2030 goals to extend healthy life expectancy and reduce environmental impact by 50%, Ajinomoto’s 2024 Youth Summit is just one part of APC’s wider commitment to the Philippines. In line with the summit, APC Group plans to continue its “Aji-Ginisa® I Love Veggie-licious School Caravan” at Lahug Elementary School in Cebu, fostering early awareness of nutritious eating and sustainability among Filipino children.
