3 Public Holidays in the Philippines in August 2018, 4 in Cebu

There will be more possible public holidays in Cebu as the month of August will be the celebration of the Founding Anniversary of the province. This year, three (3) public holidays are set on the calendar in the Philippines (one with date waiting for final confirmation) and added another one day holiday in Cebu Province on August 6.

The Province of Cebu celebrates its 449th Founding Anniversary on August 6, 2018. This was duly enacted under the Republic Act No. 8952.

AN ACT AMENDING REPUBLIC ACT NO. 7698 DECLARING AUGUST 6 OF EVERY YEAR A SPECIAL NONWORKING PUBLIC HOLIDAY IN THE PROVINCE OF CEBU TO INCLUDE ITS HIGHLY URBANIZED CITIES OF CEBU AND MANDAUE AND ITS COMPONENT CITIES OF LAPU-LAPU, DANAO AND TOLEDO
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:
SECTION 1. Section 2 of Republic Act No. 7698 is hereby amended to read as follows:
“SEC. 2. August six of every year is hereby declared a special nonworking public holiday for the Province of Cebu including its highly urbanized cities of Cebu and Mandaue and its component cities of Lapu-Lapu, Danao, and Toledo.”
SEC. 2. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.

On the other hand, the three (3) other holidays are as follows:
August 21 (Tuesday) – Ninoy Aquino Day – Special Non-Working Day
August 22 21 (Tuesday) – Eidul Adha (Feast of Sacrifice) Read related article here

The declaration of these public holidays was duly signed and approved by the President of the Republic of the Philippines, His Excellency Rodrigo Duterte, under the Proclamation No. 269, s. 2017.
The official list of public holidays, however, does not include the dates of the Eid’l Fitr and Eid’l Adha, which will be determined in accordance with the Islamic calendar. The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos has been designated to inform the Office of the President of the actual dates when the holidays will fall.
