Thai and Vietnamese cuisine at Lemon Grass

We are always fascinated with the diversity and uniqueness yet an amazing culture of other Asian countries. We might have friends from different nationalities and ethnicity, to experience their way of life is very fulfilling. Here in Cebu, we have a fair chance to try the taste of their culture… through food. This time, we will be sharing to you the taste of Thailand and Vietnam through Lemon Grass Restaurant at the Terraces in Ayala Center Cebu.

Lemon Grass Vietnam – Thailand Restaurant at The Terraces

The interior of the place is so Asian: water fountain, religious relics and artifacts like the prominent statues at the entrance door, chairs, tables, wooden carvings on the wall, and the ambiance. But, we can stay outside to enjoy the presence of passers-by while we also enjoy the cool night breeze at the Terraces. Service crews, especially the waiters and waitresses are in Thai-inspired uniforms made out of silk and that sash… so Asian.

We have been at the Lemon Grass for many times and we are already aware that Thai has spicy, chili-hot food. They serve food with chili and red pepper, either crushed or thrown in the platter whole. They also have peanuts as an ingredient in the menu, and of course, green vegetables which some of us love… and tofu.

Now, the disadvantage of staying outside is getting the attention of any waiter or waitress available, most especially when the inside is full-packed. But we can manage to wave a hand to one of them to take our orders.

When we go visit a restaurant, we always have my “the usual order” meal. Here at Lemon Grass, we can have the trio: a milk tea drink, an appetizer of tofu goodness, and the main course of noodles, shrimp, and scrambled eggs.

If you are familiar with how lemon grass tastes and smells like, it’s evident in their version of milk tea. You will love it! The milk tea was so refreshing.

Fried tofu bean curd with greens in sweet, garlic sauce! Heavenly goodness. If we are vegan, we can have these all the time!

Scrambled eggs, shrimp, peanuts, noodles, lemon, and green, and spicy chili. This is a famous food from Thailand: Pad Thai. We are so in love with this food. Thanks to my friends from Thailand for introducing us this.

The food is distinctively Asian, particularly influenced from Thailand and Vietnam. We were able to say that because we have no experiences with pure Vietnamese food (unless we have tried one before and we have no idea it was Vietnamese), we can’t really tell which food is from Vietnam. The ingredients are fresh and they taste good, too. We love how the Lemon Grass milk tea tastes and smell. The tangy, minty and cool feeling as you sip or gulp it in. It is so amazing.

The fried tofu bean curd is amazing as well. With its sauce and green veggies, this is going to be one of the reasons why we can be a vegetarian someday. Pad Thai is world famous. The noodles are still firm and the shrimp is to die for (We are not allergic to seafood but yeah, they are to die for!) What shocked me? Peanuts in almost all Thai food! And chili!

Overall, the food was good! This is an awesome dining experience. Why not you give it a try?
