Endorsed by the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas and produced by the Sacred Heart School for Boys Batch 1985 Foundation, Inc., the same organization behind Binibining Cebu, The Visayan Music Awards, or VizMA, is an annual event to honor significant artists and important achievements in the industry. A songwriting competition aimed to promote the Visayan language and culture is one of the highlights of the awards ceremony.

VizMA Finals Night on July 27, winners to get Thames International Scholarships

VizMa’s inaugural Awards Night will be held on July 27, 2019, Saturday at 7:00 pm at the Oakridge Pavilion where major prizes await winners of the songwriting competition. The grand prize winner will receive ₱100,000, while the 1st and 2nd runners-up will win ₱75,000 and ₱50,000 respectively; and the 3rd to 6th runners-up will get to go home with ₱10,000.

To further build their skills set, knowledge and competency in the industry even after the competition, all seven (7) songwriting finalists will receive a scholarship worth over ₱150,000 each for a post-graduate or bachelor’s degree diploma from Thames International’s Innovation and Creative Enterprise Program (ICE).

Designed for working individuals, the postgraduate diploma includes a seven-month part-time program that combines business, innovation, and creative thinking skill while the bachelor’s degree diploma is a three-year program where scholars will be trained to maximize the synergy of business, technology, and art in order to be effective in the creative entrepreneurship industry.

The ICE program of Thames aims to develop the future “Spotify” of the Philippines by teaching a combination of Music + Business + Tech,” explains Thames founder Joel Santos.

Based in Quezon City, Manila, Thames International started in 1999 as the country’s first international college offering UK-based programs in Business Administration, Communication Arts, and Information Technology.
