After the great success of its previous visit to Cebu, the World’s Biggest Book Sale makes a big comeback to the Queen City of the South with more books and titles to choose from. The Big Bad Wolf Book Sale will be opening its doors to book lovers for 24 hours non-stop from August 16 to 26, 2019, at the IEC Convention Center (IC3), Pope John Paul II Avenue, Cebu City.
The Big Bad Wolf Book Sale is back in Cebu this August
Readers can expect over 1 million brand new English books with multiple genres ranging from fiction, non-fiction, children’s books, and rare titles. It will also be rolling out books with augmented reality technology called Magical Book that encourage kids to interact, read, play and learn using cutting-edge technology. Showcasing 12 titles ranging from fairy tale stories such as Cinderella, Red Riding Hood, along with educational books such as Let’s Learn ABC, parents will be able to encourage their children to start reading using the Magical Books.
Bookworms can have first dibs on their favorite titles during the Sale’s exclusive VIP Day on August 15. Over 4,000 VIP passes will be up for grabs on the Big Bad Wolf’s Facebook and Instagram Pages in the days leading up to the event.
Giving back to the society through Gawad Kalinga partnership
Aside from bringing the best in quality English books to all book lovers, the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale also believes in giving back to the community. Big Bad Wolf Books’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm is continuing its Red Readerhood Programme here in Cebu by giving back to the society through the partnership with Gawad Kalinga. This aims to furnish Gawad Kalinga’s community libraries and schools with more books.
The partnership aims to encourage reading, improve literacy, and provide learning opportunities. To kick-start the initiative, the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale Cebu will be donating 500 books and customers are also enjoined to take part in the advocacy and donate books at the sale.
In 2019, over 6,836 books were donated to Gawad Kalinga partner communities, libraries, and schools around the Philippines during the sale in Manila, while 2,515 books were donated through the sale in Pampanga.
Big Bad Wolf Books and a decade of reading and literacy
Now on its 10th year, Big Bad Wolf Books aims to encourage reading by providing high-quality English books at low prices, with sales in more cities in countries such as Taiwan, United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, and Thailand.
It debuted in the Philippines in February 2018 in Manila, followed by Cebu in July and Davao in November of that same year. Its most recent sale brought Big Bad Wolf Books back to Manila last February and Pampanga last July this year.
