Café Mezzo, named after an Italian word that means “middle”, is your next gastronomic destination in the city center of Cebu. The newest business hotel in Cebu City that recently opened this year had a full blast of its fusion-inspired restaurant. With the idea to introduce a unique take to fusion food, and an aspiration to be minimalist, every Cebuano taste bud will certainly enjoy without hesitations.
A restaurant that delivers simplicity and uniqueness on every platter, Café Mezzo is the food mecca at Mezzo Hotel, located in F. Cabahug, corner Pres. Quezon Street, Panagdait, Cebu City.
Café Mezzo highlights fusion food with a pinch of minimalism
Mezzo Hotel, aiming to become the first 4-star business hotel at the F. Cabahug area in Cebu City, has its inspiration of a minimalist design on its interiors. Targeting local and International clients who will travel to Cebu City for business and leisure, its restaurant, Café Mezzo, also takes this concept.
From the dashing marble walls, floors, and tables to the very clean blue chairs and gray sofas, the gastronomic adventure that every guest will experience is surely simple yet uplifting.
Advancing its offerings of fusion cuisine, you will be mesmerized if you will be told that they offer pasta, a common dish that every restaurant in a hotel will offer. However, if an added detail of serving danggit, a well-known delicacy in Cebu City, it will both capture and mark an elevated palette.
Appetizers and Starters
They present salads on the menu. Again, simple and not intimidating. But, with Café Mezzo’s take on its fusion inspiration, you will be captivated by the idea of having potato salad, and a touch of freshness with the cucumbers surrounding the mashed potatoes. And let us not forget prawns.
They also serve Chicken salad with Caesar dressing for their appetizer dish. And then again, adding more level to their platter is a herb-crusted poached egg. There’s cream of beef and mushroom soup and Danggit Spaghetti Aglio e Olio that you should definitely try.
To have a proper wash down of what we have devoured for the first part of the meal, a banana and strawberry fruit shake is in order, too.
Main Course Meals
For our main course, grilled, roasted, and pan-fried meat paraded the dining table. We were served with two mains: fish, and pork ribs.
When the plates arrived, the servings are simple as they are. You will know what’s in them for being so raw and informal. However, the exciting part of every food they offer is knowing what they taste and how well they would go. The main course meals didn’t disappoint.
You would know that you can taste something garlicky because the garlic gloves are there. You can tell that the sauce is creamy because the white sauce spreading underneath the fish looks creamy. To validate all those assumptions on how they look is through tasting them, and tasting them carefully and religiously.
Yes, the meat is perfectly good and right. There are vegetables, too, to help you cut the grease and fat and as well as heighten the taste more into a unique fusion flavor.
We never hesitated to take a bite and consume everything that’s on the plate. And of course, we never leave out any baby potatoes and carrots, because why not?
They serve rice. We had one bowl each, but we didn’t ask for an extra for we need to have an ample space for the last course of the night.
Desserts
To conclude the full course meal is, of course, with desserts. To our surprise, the pastry chef had the liberty to come near our table and to introduce to us his creation.
The Old-fashioned junket tart and the Molten Choco (Lava Cake) summarize the meal at Café Mezzo, and everything was enjoyed with delight and a full stomach.
Café Mezzo is indeed true to their offering of fusion food. A combination of taste and the colorful arrangement of every platter they serve can bring you to different places to savor unique takes to food and flavors.
With its concept of minimalism, Hotel Mezzo is a great place to have a staycation with the family and friends. As a business hotel located in the middle of the city, it is a hideaway for relaxation and for great food.
