Converge bolsters presence in Cebu City, opens newest business center in partnership with JFiber
The new business center strategically located in downtown Cebu City at One Central Mall was launched Thursday together with its Marketing Services Provider (MSP), JFiber Internet Services Corp., led by Cebu businessmen Justin and Jonathan Uy.
During its grand opening on Thursday, Converge Head of Sales for Consumer, SME and Emerging Channels, Ariel Concejero said: “We are very glad that Converge is in the care of Justin and Jonathan, who are both homegrown with well-established businesses in Cebu. We are sure that under their leadership, Converge will reach new heights in the market.”
“Dennis Anthony Uy would always say, internet access should not be a privilege of a few, but a right of every Filipino. We share the vision of Dennis and Grace Uy to provide Filipinos and in our case, Cebuanos, with world-class, pure end-to-end fiber internet connectivity. Over the period of one year, we at JFiber have grown to around 400 employees, creating jobs in parts of Metro Cebu. This is proof that we are committed to supporting the growing network of Converge in the province,” said JFiber Chairman Justin Uy.

“We’re glad to be in partnership with Converge to grow the business in Cebu. With Converge and JFiber working together, we will be able to address the concerns of our growing customer base faster and more efficiently. We’ll also be able to provide local employment opportunities for Cebuanos. Today, as many as 400 employees and their families are being supported by the operations. We’re determined to make Converge the number one ISP,” said Jonathan Uy, CEO of JFiber.
“It is the vision of our good mayor Michael Rama to make Cebu like Singapore. How will this happen? Cebu city needs to be a smart city, and one of the foundations of that is having reliable and fast internet. We are hoping for a strong partnership with Converge and JFiber, especially in our aim to become a smart city,” said Cebu City Vice Mayor Hon. Raymond Alvin Garcia, who graced the business center opening.

Full-service facility
Converge Regional General Manager for the Visayas and Mindanao Michael Maquiran adds that the new business center would facilitate different transactions and services to address customer-related concerns, especially as restrictions have eased and more and more Filipinos are venturing out of their homes.
“The launching of our business center here is just one of our many initiatives in providing a premium customer experience to our subscribers. Through this new facility, Converge is assuring its customers in Cebu that they can easily reach out to us to support their expanding internet requirements beyond the digital channels that we have,” said Maquiran.
Converge Business Centers facilitate customer transactions such as service inquiries, application processing, plan upgrades, billing-related transactions, technical reporting, and repair requests, among others.
Likewise, the said service offices also feature self-service kiosks for fast and contactless payment transactions.
The fiber internet provider continues to strengthen its presence in Cebu with network coverage spanning the cities of Mandaue, Lapulapu, Talisay, Bogo, Carcar, Toledo, and Naga.
Aside from the Cebu Business Center, the company also inaugurated the regional head office and business center in Oakridge Business Park in Mandaue City last year, where the VisMin regional headquarters is also located.

Strong, Redundant Network
Converge has been expanding its fiber network by employing its Go Deep and Go National twin strategies.
Through its Go Deep initiative, Converge fortifies its network in strategic areas to reach unserved and underserved customers. Meanwhile, its Go National strategy enables the widening of its network to new markets, including the Visayas and Mindanao.
As of end-June 2022, Converge has already stretched its fiber network to more than 13.5 million homes, representing 52.1 percent of household coverage nationwide.
Other than its expansive coverage, Converge has the youngest and most advanced network in the country today, which allows it to deliver the best broadband experience to customers.
The total fiber assets of Converge – which includes the domestic backbone and the submarine cable segment – number over 563,000 kilometers as of April 2022. This makes it one of the most extensive fiber networks in the country and undoubtedly the youngest since the network is just two years old in terms of average service age.

This domestic network is equipped with two major redundancy loops – one in Luzon and another in Mindanao – to make sure it is protected against any localized network failure.
