The first original Filipino Christian musical streaming on February 27 and 28
Morissette, Sam Concepcion, Aicelle Santos, Jett Pangan, Sheila Valderama-Martinez, Lance Busa, Bullet Dumas, Tim Pavino, Nanette Inventor, and Christian Bautista with Tippy Dos Santos are set to take on roles in the groundbreaking hit created by Freddie Garcia in 1988.
“The trials that we are all facing right now inspired all of us in Stages and Trumpets to spearhead the updating, refreshing of this material. After all through everything, there is indeed one One Name that we should count on,” says Audie Gemora. “Aside from that, we also want to pay tribute to this timeless work of our then resident creator Freddie Garcia, who passed on just recently.”
The original musical gathered some of the biggest names in the industry during its earlier runs, including Ray An Fuentes, Audie Gemora, Carlo Orosa, Sheila Francisco, Carla Martinez, among many others. The musical also gave birth to the inspirational hit “Could You Be Messiah,” composed by Gary Valenciano.
“First Name Anew,” the first collaboration of Trumpets, Stages, Manila Genesis Entertainment, and Stages Sessions, tapped some of the best arrangers to give new life to the songs. The list includes John Apura, Jeff Arcilla, Jacques Dufourt, Bullet Dumas, Mon Faustino, Rony Fortich, Gio Levy, Jungee Marcelo, Choi Padilla, Yuna Reguerra, and Gary Valenciano.
Also lending their creative visions are gifted directors Daniel Cabrera, Johann Dela Fuente, Cathy Azanza-Dy, Dave Lamar, Carlo Orosa, Paolo Valenciano, and Mo Zee.
