The #GCashGivesBack donation drive yields ₱1.87M for Philippine General Hospital

Following a fire that ravaged Philippine General Hospital (PGH), one of the largest COVID-19 referral hospitals in the country, GCash, the country’s leading mobile wallet, raised more than ₱1.8 million in donations after just a week-long fund-raising drive, extending much-needed help to displaced patients that include sick babies, the elderly and individuals needing critical care.

When news of the fire at PGH came out, GCash immediately came up with the #GCashGivesBack donation drive. Through the GCash app, customers were able to extend help using the “Pay QR” option and the Pay Bills option and selecting #GCashGivesBack.

This donation drive is part of GCash’s corporate social responsibility arm, GCash for Good, and its mission to address various social issues on education, environment, health, animal welfare, and more. It’s also part of GCash’s holistic sustainability agenda for 2021-2025 and aligned with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
