My 10 Iconic Christmas Movies (1990 – 2011)
Does the season make your time a little shorter compared to yesterday? Well, that cannot be helped. When it comes to December we tend to count days like a ticking bomb that will soon explode. And this is just a common mental reaction when we know that at some point we are almost at the end of the pit stop. We waited for Christmas and then a week after that the coming of the new year. Time really is shorter now but watching our favorite Christmas movies make the holidays worthwhile.
My 10 Iconic Christmas Movies (1990 – 2011)
Christmas is fast approaching. The traditional period of preparation for the coming of our savior, Advent, is almost over. The ‘Misa de Gallo’ is on its 5th day. And right before you know it, Christmas is here. And again, is the spirit of sharing, and love can be searched beneath our souls? If you are hesitant to say yes then let me work it out for you. Here are ten (10) of the most loved Christmas movies I have saved on my watch list:
Home Alone (1990)
Macaulay Culkin in his most memorable role ever as Kevin McCallister. A funny story of a boy left alone in their house while his family is on their vacation trip to Paris. He was overjoyed by the sight of being alone but was then changed when burglars came into his supposed-to-be independence.
Love Actually (2003)
A multitude of big stars in the most intertwined story of love and fate at the same time. This movie will show you a different version of love one can give. Watching this movie made me realize that there are more important things than being loved. On another note, this may change your views about love but this is not too child-friendly as this has been restricted for adult viewers only – 18 and above.
A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas (2011)
If you are a fan of the two – Harold and Kumar then they left a little present for you for Christmas. And that is their fun and mischief at Christmas. This is the third installment of the Harold and Kumar series after ‘Go To White Castle’ and ‘Escape From Guatemala Bay’. This is a good ‘spice-up-fun’ seasoning in your season.
The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992)
From the novel A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. The movie has this little warmth in its entirety and at the same heightened up by tons of funny moments. This is a Walt Disney Pictures film so this is favorably intended for children. This movie is a fusion of fantasy, musical and comedy in one.
Arthur Christmas (2011)
We have computer-animated characters in this British/American made film. In this movie, we see the nontraditional Santa as he is now delivering presents in his advanced facility at the North Pole. However, his son Arthur accidentally misplaced a gift somewhere and they need to recover it before Christmas.
Miracle on the 34th Street (1994)
A man is set on a court trial to prove that he is Santa. A very heartwarming story that would ignite the Santa in us. This is definitely one of the most beautiful Christmas movies I can recommend.
How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)
From the famous author of children’s book Dr. Seuss comes this fictional story of the Grinch. A creature which is described as bitter and grouchy suddenly went on a mission to stop Christmas from happening.
Jingle All The Way (1996)
Tired of being the iconic action star he is, Arnold Schwarzenegger jumps into his most child-friendly role ever – a dad. Howard Langston (Schwarzenegger) is set to do what it takes to get his son Christmas wish, a Turbo Man toy.
Joyeux Noel (2005)
Be ready to have your heart gripped tightly in this movie. The best manifestation of how Christmas should be. No more hatred. No more wars. Just understanding and knowing each other, a truce for peace and love. This movie is both nominated for Best Foreign Film in Golden Globe and the Academy Awards.
Baby’s Day Out (1994)
This brings back most of my childhood memories. A little baby outwitting three adults and making his way back to his parents by following the story told to him in a book.
Oh no! I forgot. We only have 5 mornings left before Christmas day, right? Consider it a bonus gift then.
