A Holiday Tradition of Giving
Every holiday season, SM Supermalls brings warmth and happiness to underprivileged children through ChriSMiles, a heartwarming initiative in Cebu. This annual project, rooted in SM’s Employee-Volunteerism program, encourages staff to embody the true essence of Christmas by sharing their blessings.
Events Across SM Supermalls in Cebu
In December, SM Supermalls hosted several ChriSMiles activities that reached hundreds of children in need:
- SM J Mall launched its ChriSMiles event on December 14, welcoming 150 kids from Barangay Bakilid, Mandaue City.
- SM Seaside City Cebu celebrated on December 19, giving gifts to 50 pupils from Alaska Elementary School, Barangay Mambaling. This event also featured the Bears of Joy, a signature program where customers can buy and donate bears for just ₱280.
- SM City Cebu held its event on December 20 for 50 orphans from SOS Children’s Village in Barangay Talamban.
- SM City Consolacion concluded the festivities on December 23, hosting 450 kids from Barangay Tolotolo at the Sto. Niño Spirituality Center.
Each event brought smiles, gifts, and sweet treats, leaving a lasting impact on children and their communities.
Collaboration with SM Cares
The ChriSMiles program aligns with SM Cares, the corporate social responsibility arm of SM Supermalls. This partnership amplifies SM’s commitment to creating meaningful change in communities through programs for children, the environment, women, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities.
The Bears of Joy campaign added another layer of generosity to ChriSMiles. Customers participated actively by purchasing a pair of stuffed bears, donating one to a child while keeping the other as a token of kindness. This initiative highlights how small gestures can bring immense joy to those in need.
