Four cities in Cebu join the National HIV Testing Day, dubbed as Know Your Status (KYS) and Play (#KYSandPlay2019), on 23 November 2019 starting from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at various testing sites nationwide.

Cebu joins National HIV Testing Day on November 23

#KYSandPlay2019, which offers free, fast and confidential HIV tests, is led by LoveYourself, Inc. and the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA), in partnership with several community-based organizations (CBOs) across the country that provide HIV-related services.

Interested individuals may register at bit.ly/KYSandPlay2019 who can choose among five testing sites in Cebu that will be participated in by LoveYourself, Inc. in Cebu, Bisdak Pride, and the Talisay City LGBT Bangaw Federation.

In Cebu City, LoveYourself will hold HIV screening activities at LoveYourself White House located at #40 J. Llorente Street, Capitol Site, and Bisdak Pride will have Atma Prema community center at Jasper Apartment M-5, Orchid Street, El Dorado Subdivision in Banilad.

LoveYourself will also put up HIV screening sites at Sunflower Bistro and KTV in Parkmall in Mandaue City, and Watever KTV at The Outlets in Lapu-Lapu City. Also, the Talisay City LGBT Bangaw Federation will spearhead testing activities at the Barangay Poblacion Park in Talisay City.

In the latest report of the Department of Health, there are 35 newly diagnosed HIV cases per day in the Philippines. Central Visayas is one of the regions with the highest number of HIV cases with 78 new ones in June 2019.

In the Visayas region, Iloilo City will also have two testing sites to be facilitated by the Family Planning Organization of the Philippines -Iloilo Chapter. Across the country, there will be five in the National Capital Region, four in Luzon, and three in Mindanao.

Other CBOs involved are Aves Love and Light, Decent Image of South Signal Association (DIOSSA), Juan Posi+ive Movement (JPM), Kagay-an PLUS – Preserving Life, Uniting Society, Inc. (K-PLUS), Mujer LGBT Organization, Olympus Society of Davao, Inc. (OSD), and Project H4 (Health, Help, Hope, Happiness).

This collaboration with PETA aims to strengthen the awareness campaigns of community- based organizations through highlighting the #ActingOnHIV drive of the theater institution. Theater performers are the primary ambassadors for the #KYSandPlay2019, namely: Topper Fabregas, Gerhard Krysstopher, Iji Ampil, Eko Baquial, Chamyto Aguedan, Bene Manaois, Dylan Talon, Rhenwyn Gabalonzo, Lygie Carillo, Cheeno Macaraig, Carlon Josol, Mico Esquivel, Miguel Almendras, Gio Gahol Jarred Jaicten, Ian Segarra, and Jimi Marquez.

The nationwide event is also supported by Pilipinas Shell Foundation Incorporated, and AIDS Healthcare Foundation.
