The Jollibee Reunion Story: The ‘Champ’ is back!

Homegrown food chain Jollibee revealed today that it will bring back the iconic Champ after it was phased out in January. Jollibee Foods Corp. said that Jollibee Champ and Jollibee Ultimate Burger Steak are back in select stores nationwide as of October 30, after a “clamor” from loyal fans. The famous burger made of 100% pure beef, 1/3 lbs. of cheese patty, lettuce, and tomato marked its “grand return” with two new additional variants, according to the country’s largest restaurant operator.

Apart from the Classic Champ, Jollibee announced a new Bacon Champ with two strips of bacon and the new Amazing Aloha Champ with honey mustard dressing and 2 pineapple rings. The Jollibee Champ burgers will be available in select 324 stores starting October 30.

“We’re very happy to bring back a product that has received so much clamor from its loyal fans. The return of the Jollibee Champ is a result of the passionate clamor for everyone’s favorite langhap-sarap BIG burger made even better with two new variants to satisfy more cravings for different flavors,” said Jollibee AVP for Bestsellers category Cathleen Capati.

The classic Champ version is available solo starting at ₱150, while the Bacon Champ and the Amazing Aloha Champ are available for ₱185 and ₱199. Before the announcement, Jollibee teased Twitter users with posts such as the “Reunion of the Year.”

Fans of the Jollibee Ultimate Burger Steak have their “prayers answered” with the return of the famous item in 324 stores nationwide starting October 30 in Luzon and Metro Manila, and on November 18 in Visayas and Mindanao. The food item was also phased out in January.

The Ultimate Burger Steak is made of 1/3-pound Champ patty topped with mushroom sauce and served with fries, mushroom strips, garlic bits, and rice egg. Meals start at ₱150.

“After being met by the overwhelming response to its phase-out last January, we are very excited and happy to announce the return of the Ultimate Burger Steak to our menu. Just as before, you can now enjoy the delicious beefy-saucy combination that Jollibee Burger Steak meals are known for in the ultimate size that satisfies you,” Mari Aldecoa said, Jollibee Marketing Director for Core and Complementary category.

The Champ hamburger was part of Jollibee’s original menu line-up along with Yumburger, Chickenjoy, and Jollibee Spaghetti, while the Ultimate Burger Steak had a lot of love for its big portion.

Jollibee has dealt with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdowns. It turned to sell ready-to-cook chicken items when the government prohibited dine-in customers last March.
