Cebu City remains under the state of ECQ pursuant to IATF Resolution No. 37
The City of Cebu will still be under the state of Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) effective until May 31, 2020, Sunday pursuant to Resolution No. 37, Series of 2020 issued by the Inter-Agency Task Force of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID). In contrary to the Executive Order No. 077, also known as “An Order Declaring the City of Cebu under the State of Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) and providing Guidelines thereof”, issued by Hon. Mayor Edgardo Labella, the Executive Order was revoked to give way to the IATF recommendation; supposedly will take effect today, May 16, 2020.

“Because of the IAFT resolution last night, giving due course to our request for reconsideration, we revoke Executive Order 77 to pave the way for the reclassification from Modified [Enhanced Community] Quarantine to Enhanced Community Quarantine,” Mayor Labella said during a live stream press conference posted earlier today, May 16, 2020, at the Cebu City Public Information Office Facebook Page.
The National IATF-EID declared Cebu City and Mandaue City at “high-risk”, elevating the status of Cebu City’s community quarantine status from Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) pursuant to Executive Order No. 077 to Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ). All executive orders pertaining to the ECQ in Cebu City and Mandaue City shall remain in full force and effect until May 31, 2020.

The cities of Cebu and Mandaue have been holding an extension of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) on May 31. This is after President Rodrigo Roa Duterte approved the recommendation on the ongoing increase in COVID-19 cases.
Meanwhile, the province of Cebu and the city of Lapu-Lapu will be lowered to the General Community Quarantine.
