Staggering global reports from the World Health Organization (WHO) records 7,000 newborn deaths every day with most cases happening within the first six days after birth. In the Philippines alone, about 4 Filipino mothers and 56 infants die daily due to preventable causes such as poor maternal health, inadequate access to health services, and the lack of newborn care, among many others.1
